Upcoming Works for the Fortnight

  • Pavement - finish subgrade layer, start subbase layer
  • Kerbing base preparation work
  • Retainer wall preparation works
  • Continuation of stormwater drainage works
  • Public lighting - pole footings

Start of Works (Stage 1)

Stage 1 of this project will involve the construction of a carpark and parallel parking along the Coffin Bay foreshore so disruptions to the public are expected to include half-lane closures or detours along the Esplanade, and loss of access to the car park behind the Coffin Bay Yacht Club.

It is anticipated that works will begin on Monday 13 July 2026, (weather and supply chain permitting) with the aim to conclude the works by mid-December.

Please note that in an effort to have this project completed before the Christmas holiday period, contractors plan to work 11-day shifts, including on Sundays. The following mitigation strategies will be in place:

As far as reasonably practicable:
1. Machinery won’t start until after 7am on each day.
2. Sundays:
a. All Works with machinery/plant/equipment generating excessive noise to be scheduled only between 9am and 5pm.
b. Any deliveries / haulage / logistics to be scheduled between 9am and 5pm.
c. Parking to be in a signed designated area away from residents to prevent noise.

Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding while these important improvements are delivered. Further updates will be provided here as the project progresses.

About the Project

The Foreshore Revitalisation project delivers key actions prioritised in the Coffin Bay Master Plan.

Lower Eyre Council secured $1.27 million towards the $2 million revitalisation of the Coffin Bay Foreshore through the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program. Funding was announced 16 May 2024 by the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Catherine King MP.

This project will transform Coffin Bay’s physical environment for business, residents and tourists with an extension of the Coffin Bay Oyster Walk trail to link public spaces and recreational reserves emanating from a main street foreshore infrastructure upgrade with car, caravan, bus parking and landscaping featuring rain gardens for environmentally sensitive stormwater management.
