Community Group Insurance
If your community group, club or not-for-profit organisation intends to hold an event on Council or community-owned land, a Special Event Permit may be required. As part of the event approval process, organisers may be required to provide evidence of Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $20 million, current for the date of the event.
A copy of your Certificate of Currency must be submitted with the relevant permit application when requested by Council. Applications will be assessed in accordance with Council's Event Management Guide, and any approval conditions will be provided in writing.
To support community and not-for-profit organisations, Local Government has worked with Local Community Insurance Services (LCIS) to develop a specialist insurance scheme tailored to the needs of community groups across South Australia. LCIS aims to help organisations pursue their goals with confidence by providing sound advice and a range of insurance coverage options.
LCIS may be suitable for organisations that:
- Provide services or benefits to the broader community.
- Operate on a not-for-profit basis.
- Are primarily supported through volunteer involvement.
