Coffin Bay Oyster Walk
Twenty new interpretive signs featuring local flora and fauna, the oyster industry and Nauo cultural heritage can be found along the popular Coffin Bay Oyster Walk.
The signage project came to fruition due to a strong collaboration between Council and the local community. Council supported the Coffin Bay Tourist Association (CBTA) in 2025 to establish a working group comprising representatives from the CBTA, Nauo Aboriginal Corporation, Lower Eyre Coastcare Association, Eyrelab and the SA Oyster Growers Association to review the signage installed in the early 2000s.
The project secured funding through the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Experience Nature Tourism Fund, supporting the replacement of 14 signs and the production of seven short educational videos. Additional funding from Council, the CBTA and Nauo Aboriginal Corporation has enabled 20 new signs to be installed with the last two to be mounted in coming weeks.
