Economic Growth Plan 2025-30
Lower Eyre Council's Economic Growth Plan 2025-30 was adopted at the Special Council Meeting held 22 July 2025.
The Plan outlines opportunities and provides direction for focusing efforts and existing resources over the next five years to ensure a sustainable and diverse economy.
Background
Economic Profile
The first step in creating an Economic Growth Plan was outlining Council’s key demographics, metrics and economic data. This process assisted identify opportunities and risks when considered against external environmental factors and trends.
The Economic Profile was used to inform appropriate strategic responses to achieve the following Council and community aspirations:
- Continuing to enjoy a country lifestyle, while not being disadvantaged by living in a regional area;
- Protection of the natural beauty of the landscape;
- Maintaining an attractive and functional built environment;
- Building on a strong sense of community, self-sufficiency, and innovation across the Council area, and
- Sustaining an inclusive and diverse economy.
Economic Opportunities Discussion Paper
The profile helped to form an Economic Opportunities Discussion Paper, that was distributed to relevant stakeholders for initial feedback in May. The paper raises identified opportunities and risks to Lower Eyre’s future economic prosperity (and therefore the community’s wellbeing) based on the current economic activity, trend patterns and the broader external environmental trends.
Feedback was used to inform the draft Economic Growth Plan, which was presented to Council at its June meeting to be endorsed for public consultation.
