Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula has produced a promotional video following the recent success of the Eyes on Eyre initiative, which aimed to introduce a consistent and collaborative approach to tourism on the Eyre Peninsula.
The Eyes on Eyre Working Group is a joint initiative of Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula (RDAEP), the Eyre Peninsula Local Government Association (EPLGA), Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board (EPLB), the Department for Environment and Water (DEW), and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA).
Lower Eyre Council is proud to be a part of the program with the following improvements carried out:
- Introduction of the Book Easy permit system to all Lower Eyre Council campgrounds.
- Fishery Bay campground upgrade - camp sites have been better defined, and a boardwalk has been constructed over the dunes to protect the area and make it safer for visitors. Areas have also been identified for revegetation.
- Rocks have been placed at coastal campgrounds to delineate areas to camp and park, therefore stopping people forming their own tracks and pushing up into vegetation.
- Pest weed control at all coastal campsites.
- New signage for select coastal campsites.
